Email 91: Time Log
Written by Charles Boling - - no commentsAt last, the detailed time log!
But first, events from earlier in the week:
Monday, we met with Tayke (who showed up an hour late), along with the District Leader, so that Tayke could get his baptisimal interview. He passed, and we made plans to continue to move forward for him to be baptized on Saturday.
They also met a fellow whose disc golf disc they found (he'd written his phone# on it, so they called him and arranged to meet) and played a round with him. He had another disc that he didn't like (but Matthew did fine with) so he gave it to Matthew. Matthew's happy to have his own disc, but will probably not try to match another elder's collection of >30.
Tuesday, Elder Schreiter and I, along with several other companionships in the zone, went to do service for...one of the Chavez's friends. We were pulling up old pergo flooring (for the whole house) that had been soaked in cat urine for the last couple of decades. Needless to say, it didn't smell all that great.
Wednesday, we went to the food bank again. The person in charge there wants us there every week, and where they need help is in the freezer. I was picturing trying to survive being in something like Uncle Rico for three hours. Then I learned that the freezer that we'll be in is kept at 30 degrees, rather than 10.
That afternoon, we had a lesson with a member referral. When we and the member got there, we found that he had the King Follett Discourse printed out and all marked up on the table. That's when we knew that he wasn't really wanting to learn, he just wanted to attack our beliefs. Which he did, although I'm surprised that he didn't delve more into the Trinity or polygamy - those are pretty classic things for people to bash the church on.

8:50 - Told this to the Zone Leaders as to why the baptism was canceled:
"The water heater went out recently in the Stake Center. According to the building representative, apparently parts have been ordered, but they are coming from New York or something, and due to the riots after the New York Yankees' most recent loss, shipping from New York has been delayed for an unknown amount of time."
8:50 - 9:45- Journal, finish reporting stuff in areabook, wind down, pray
9:45 - Go to bedAnd thus ends my account of Thursday.
Friday he taught District Council and played 2 games of chess w/ their dinner appt's 13 year-old son. Both games started favorably for the youth, with Matthew nabbing surprise checkmates at the end. Sunday he spoke for 20min in sacrament mtg.
Only 2 more months before he has to come home!
